October was a tumultuous month, forever marked by the start of a refreshed and hopeful wave of the #EndSARS movement and the government’s callous response. The music industry, like other industries was also rocked by the events taking place in the country. At the peak of the unrest, a number of Artists postponed their releases in solidarity with the movement. Here are our top 10 Singles from the October releases.

20 10 20 – Burna Boy

In under 4 minutes, Burna Boy manages to call out the Nigerian government for their involvement in the Lekki Plaza killings, eulogize the victims, give listeners a peek into the events surrounding the #EndSARS movement and the government’s callous response. We needed this.

Kida Kudz – In My Country

Jiggy Boy gave his painful take of what SARS puts the youth through. He stayed in tune to his signature sound and went the extra mile of naming some victims of the extrajudicial killings, immortalizing them.

Wizkid (feat. Burna Boy) – Ginger

The sheer star power on this record makes it and obvious standout on Made in Lagos. Wizzy retains his cool demeanor throughout the track, leaving Burna to run berserk at the tail end of the track.

Wizkid – Mighty Wine

This is baby making music. Starboy lures listeners with his vibe and seduces with his words as the production sets the perfect ambience for dutty whines.

Ajebo Hustlers (feat. Davido) – Barawo

This record couldn’t have been released at a better time. Ajebo Hustlers finished work on the original version of this provocative protest tune (even before the protests arose), and the Davido verse on the remix simply gave it the extra boost it needed to reach a wider audience right at the peak of the #EndSARS movement.

Bella Shmurda (feat. Zlatan, Lincoln) – Cash App

Bella knows the streets, he knows what they want to hear and he serves them hot with Zlatan adding some spice. If you don’t like this song, it’s simply not for you.

Olamide (feat. Omah Lay) – Infinity

Omah Lay is definitely not a 1 project wonder. He carries this Carpe Diem feature like he owns the track. Olamide’s sublime verse is the perfect bow on this gift from Carpe Diem.

Olamide (feat. Bad Boy Timz) – Loading

Amapiano is the trending music style and Olamide gives his spin on the vibe with the help of Bad Boy Timz. This one is going to cause a storm at the clubs once they reopen.

If You No Love Me (feat. Mayorkun) – Chike

Chike & Mayorkun seek reassurance from their lovers on this record. Chike has settled as our resident loverboy and is very comfortable on this lane.

DJ Jimmy Jatt (feat. 2Baba, Buju) – Worry Me

This unlikely duo pairing works perfectly. The legendary 2Baba comes into Buju’s world and fits perfectly. It sounds like a Buju song featuring 2Baba but the legend still floats. This is a set up we never imagined we needed, thank you Jimmy Jatt.
