Having recently announced the huge news of a brand new Afrodance Soundsystem, the global afrobeats legends Mr Eazu and DJ Edu share the first official ‘ChopLife SoundSystem’ single entitled ‘Wena’ which also features vocals from South African artist Ami Faku.

The DJ Tárico-produced track, released today by Choplife Limited, continues Mr. Eazi’s Amapiano wave. Eazi reacts in English to Ami Faku’s sorrowful Xhosa lyrics. Theirs is a tragedy of would-be lovers who never consummate, resolved only on the dancefloor.

‘Wena’ is also the lead single taken from the soon to drop mixtape ‘Choplife Vol. 1: Mzansi Chronicles’Out 28th May, the full length project sees the pair team up with a host of producers, DJs and vocalists on what is one of the most exciting and unique projects in global dance music in years. Pre-order the mixtape here.

ChopLife SoundSystem takes its name from the West African pidgin slang phrase chop life, meaning “enjoy life,” and Jamaican soundsystems.

This innovative new pan-African soundsystem, inspired by Diplo’s Major Lazer, will put a modern, African twist on Jamaican soundsystem culture, incorporating genres like amapiano and afrobeats to create the ultimate African party experience on original studio recordings and at curated live events. Mr. Eazi is ChopLife SoundSystem’s main vocalist and MC at live concerts, where he’s joined by resident selector DJ Edu (of BBC Radio fame) and other artists and DJs. Listen to Wena here.
