For most in the music industry, the Ember months are a quick cash grab. It’s go hard or go home for most.
Artistes veer into what’s trending and hip( Asa with “Mayana”), make powerful if ill-fitting collaborations ( Simi and Joeboy) and generally just turn it up (Davido and Focalistic)
Reflection is a beautiful but forgotten art, and that is what Onlyonevibezz goes for. Built around one of the most famous samples, and relaxed in its approach, “Bambam” is a well-intentioned song. That much is clear.
However, its execution is a far cry from the ideas it aspires to. The lyrics are sparse and cliched, and where the delivery is intended to be relaxed, it comes off as lacklustre.
It is almost a great song, but “almost” is never enough.
In all, “Bambam” is interesting and refreshing considering the current soundscape, but not much more.
